Holy Communion

Holy Communion is received by intinction only: Only duly-prepared Orthodox Christians may receive the sacrament of Holy Communion. Others may receive a blessing by crossing their arms and bowing their head.

May I take communion?

For Orthodox Christians, the Holy Eucharist is the center of their Christian life (John 6:48-59). We believe that Jesus Christ is really present in a mystical way in the bread and wine of Holy Communion which are His Body and Blood (Matthew 26:28, Mark 14:22-25, I Corinthians 11:23-26). All Orthodox Christians are united with God through Christ’s offering of Himself as the great High Priest, and with all other Orthodox Christians in a common bond of faith and practice.

Scripture reading for the week

Our Lord Jesus Christ’s miracles authenticate His Divinity; therefore, we must decisively follow Him. You should find time to read the scriptures daily to gain strength and draw closer to the Lord. Click the link to go to the scripture readings for Matins (Morning Prayer) and Vespers (Eveningsong) on our website Calendar page.

Upcoming liturgies and events

We hope that you will come and join us in person to pray and fellowship together as our Lord intended.

Thank you!

Many thanks to Joy and all who helped put together the Paschal feast last week. It was a great success. The food was very, very good and the parish hall looked wonderful. Also, thank you to all who stayed afterwards to help clean up afterwards.

Many thanks to all of you who labor with us to beautify, strengthen, and grow our wonderful parish. May the Lord continue to bless you. If you want to find out how you can deepen your service to God, speak with Fr. David for some ideas about how to get started.

Total collection for 24 April: $1048.00.

Books and icons to assist you with your Lenten journey, Christian education, and prayer life are available in our parish bookstore for a suggested donation. Please make your check payable to: St. Nicholas Orthodox Christian Church

Do you like to sing? If so, please contact Reader David to talk about joining the choir. Remember what St. Augustine said: “He that sings, prays twice” and we need more prayer in this world and not less.
